The City Recycle Center, located at 1798 South Bird Street, accepts materials that are not collected curbside. The facility is available for use by City of Sun Prairie residents receiving city-sponsored automated curbside refuse / recycle collections. You must have a permit to use the facility - apply here. The Recycle Center accepts the following materials:
Appliances (Appliances containing a refrigerant (e.g. Freon) will not be accepted)*
Automotive motor oil
Brush (sticks and branches)
Grills (No propane tanks)
Lawn Mowers (Must be drained of gas and oil)
Motor oil / filters
Oil absorbent materials
Yard waste (Grass, leaves, garden waste)
*To dispose of refrigerant filled appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, or dehumidifiers please contact local appliance stores or scrap metal dealers for private disposal rates.

Following the third Saturday in October through the first Saturday in December
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday: 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
*Closed on Holidays that fall on open days (New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Spring Holiday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, New Years Eve)
Recycle Center Permit
These free permits will grant you quick access to the Recycle Center, which is for use by City of Sun Prairie residents who receive city-sponsored automated curbside refuse / recycle collections. Permits can be obtained by applying online and having them mailed to your home or by stopping at any of the following locations:
